Penstemon x mexicali 'Red Rocks' is a hybrid cultivar of Mexican and Californian Penstemon species noted for its hardiness, drought resistance, and showy red-pink and white flowers which bloom all summer long. Growing 14-18" in height, 'Red Rocks' grows easily in a wide variety of soil types, but thrives in recently disturbed or aerated ground.
Although capable of drought resistance thanks to its desert heritage, it will thrive with regular watering, and will perform well in containers, rock gardens pollinator plantings, and in small spaces as long as it gets plenty of sun. Flowers are attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators, and additionally make for excellent cut flowers.
