Panicum virgatum 'Apache Rose' is a is a cultivar of Panicum virgatum, an upright, clump-forming, warm weather grass, in the Prairie Winds series by Proven Winners, which seeks to "add graceful texture and movement to the garden." The 'Apache Rose' cultivar is noted for its tall, upright, slightly spreading form and its gray-green foliage becomes tinged with rose-pink hues in late summer and early fall; further depth is added to the color with the appearance of pink flower heads over the same window.

This cultivar typically grows to a taller height of about 4 feet tall, but its compact, upright clump-forming behavior means that it still works great as a container plant. All switchgrass cultivars are noted for their persistent upright structure, and 'Apache Rose' retains its column-like behavior throughout the growing season and into the winter, when it is used as a valuable winter source of food and shelter by birds and small mammals.
