Packera aurea, commonly known as golden ragwort, is a somewhat weedy, upright perennial wildflower that typically grows to one to two feet tall; known more for its flowers, golden ragwort produces small spikes of sunny, yellow flowers from early spring to summer. Golden ragwort is valued in native landscapes for its ability to thrive in moist shady locations, naturalize and spread rapidly, choke out weeds, and provide nectar and pollen to a variety of early season pollinators.

Regarded as an excellent native groundcover plant, Packera aurea prefers partial shade, though it can tolerate more shade and more sun as well, making it versatile enough for a variety of locations around the home. Beyond pollinator appeal, golden ragwort's vibrant yellow flowers attract a variety of songbirds, who prize it for its seeds.

This golden ragwort selection was grown from the ground up here at Unity Church Hill Nursery.
