Osmunda regalis, commonly called royal fern, is a native perennial fern that requires minimal care and works well as a woodland and shade ornamental. Typically growing to two to three feet tall, royal fern can occasionally grow to up to six feet tall when its moisture and humidity conditions are met!

Osmunda regalis is a deciduous fern that prefers moist, full- to part-shade conditions but can tolerate sun with consistent moisture. This fern is noted for its smooth-margined compound fronds and its yellow-brown fall foliage and large, upright, tasseled reproductive clusters.
