Heuchera x 'Red Lightning' is a hybrid coral bell cultivar noted for its outstanding, eye-catching chartreuse foliage veined with dark, crimson red; besides its aesthetic appeal, 'Red Lightning' still has all of the other features of typical coral bells that growers love. Shade-loving, low maintenance, and producing beautiful spikes of white, bell-shaped flowers from early spring well into the fall, 'Red Lightning' is a great low-growing addition to any shaded area, and works excellently as an underplanting, especially when contrasted against a darker shade plant selection.

Heuchera typically grow to under 12" tall, with flower spikes rising slightly above this height, and are commonly ignored by browsing deer. Blooms are attractive to butterflies and bees, and the natural mounding behavior of 'Red Lightning' means they will grow happily in groups or when planted next to other shade-loving perennials. This cultivar performs best and produces the best colors in part to full-shade, so care should be taken when choosing a planting location.

Although 'Red Lightning' is a hybrid, all ornamental Heuchera species are native to North America.
