Heuchera villosa 'Caramel' is a native coral bell cultivar noted for its eye-catching caramel colored foliage in shades of peach, orange, and coppery yellow, with all of the other features of typical coral bells that growers love. Shade-loving, low maintenance, and producing beautiful spikes of bell-shaped flowers from early spring well into the fall, 'Caramel' is a great low-growing addition to any shaded area, and works excellently as an underplanting.
Classified as a Mt. Cuba Center top-performer in the Heuchera trial garden, 'Caramel' received 4.4 out of 5 possible points and is especially well regarded for its attractive coloration, compact mounding habit, and its durability through multiple seasons. Heuchera typically grow to under 12" tall, with flower spikes rising slightly above this height, and are commonly ignored by browsing deer. Blooms are attractive to butterflies, and the natural mounding behavior of 'Caramel' means they will grow happily in groups or when planted next to other shade-loving perennials.
