Amsonia hubrichtii, commonly referred to as Hubricht's or threadleaf bluestar, is an attractive, clumping native wildflower typically found in open environments with full sun to partial shade. Naturally forming clumps of shrub-like masses, threadleaf bluestar produces profuse blue-gray star-shaped flowers in mid spring, which attract butterflies and pollinators. Growing to a mature height of 2-3' tall, though prone to flopping behavior, Amsonia hubrichtii is also noted for its vibrant golden-yellow fall foliage.
Hubricht's bluestar, with showy blue flowers spring flowers, followed by summer greens and fall yellow hues provide 3-season interest to border plantings, rain gardens, xeriscapes, and open meadows. Natural resistance to deer grazing and poor soil quality also make Amsonia hubrichtii an excellent choice for meadow restoration and equally great pick for flower beds of any kind.
