Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Drupacea' is a cultivar of spreading plum yew also known as weeping plum yew, due to its naturally semi-weeping habit as it ages and sprawls along the ground. Slow-growing, easy to maintain, and reliable, this evergreen shrub is in the yew family, and works wonderfully for low borders, evergreen foundation plantings, and otherwise empty beds in full sun to full shade conditions.

Tolerant of heavy shade, but also of intense heat and drought, weeping plum yew thrives in any number of landscape and urban conditions; with a medium height of only 3-5' tall at maturity, 'Drupacea' will work great under windows, but with a spread of up to 10' wide, it also makes for an excellent specimen planting or maintained hedge! As an added bonus, Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Prostrata' is deer and rabbit resistant once well-established, though young new growth may be eaten before it hardens off.

Note: Yew species produce fruits with juicy, pink flesh called an aril, which encloses a seed that is toxic to many mammals. Care should be taken when choosing a planting location, especially in areas with pets or children around.
