Symphoricarpos x Proud Berry® is a gorgeous showy hybrid cultivar of coralberry, a small, rounded shrub found across a variety of locations in North America; as a naturally occuring hybrid in a nursery setting, the exact parentage of Symphoricarpos x Proud Berry® is unknown, but most members of the Symphoricarpos genus are found in North and Central America. Growing to 3-4' tall and wide, Proud Berry® is well regarded for its attractive foliage as well as its showy late-season berries. In the early summer, coralberry produces a profusion of greenish-white, relatively unassuming flowers in small clusters along the stem; though blooms are occasionally showy, this cultivar's berries are aabsolutely the most eye-catching part. In the late summer, after flowers are pollinated, soft , pastel green berries begin to form along the branches in great numbers, maturing to an adorable cotton-candy-pink color through the fall and winter.

With parent species found in a variety of climates and ecosystem types across the US, Proud Berry® can succeed in almost any location in the garden, but prefers full sun or part-shade conditions and average, medium-to-dry soils. Compact and less prone to wild suckering than other cultivars, Proud Berry® coralberry is an excellent choice for low to medium hedges or borders or in part-shade beds, where their structure provides shelter to a variety of birds and other wildlife, and it can show its full ornamental appeal as well as its full ecological appeal to pollinators, birds, and small mammals.
