Echinacea purpurea ‘White Swan’ is an attractive, white-flowering cultivar of the typically purple-flowered Echinacea purpurea. Flowers are white with lightly drooping inflexed petals with a yellow to brown cone. 'White Swan' blooms from early summer to fall, but fall flowers will fare better when earlier season flowers are deadheaded. Flowers are highly attractive to a number of pollinators, including important native bees and butterflies.
Echinacea purpurea ‘White Swan’ grows aproximately 2-3' tall and spreads to 12-24" wide in medium sized clumps; spread can be affected by the plant's tendency to freely self-seed over time, but this can be limited by deadheading. White blooms attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators, and dried flower heads, if left intact, will attract birds with a heavy cache of seed. The 'White Swan' coneflower cultivar is true to seed, meaning it is easily propagated, but that there will also be some variation to its look when allowed to spread.
