Caryopteris incana Pavilion™ 'White' is a unique, showy cultivar of bluebeard, a compact rounded shrub; while most Caryopteris cultivars and hybrids are regarded for their showy, blue-purple flowers, the Pavilion™ 'White' cultivar adds a splash of snowy white in spectacular rounded mounds to any home landscape. Noted for their compact height and profuse, long-lasting blooms, Pavilion™ 'White' grows to only 15-18" tall and 18-20" wide. From late summer into the fall, Pavilion™ 'White' produces a profusion of lightly fragrant bunches of fluffy white flowers in the early summer that are an excellent treat for a variety of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds.
Caryopteris incana Pavilion™ 'White' grows best in full sun locations with well-drained, medium to dry soils; once established, Pavilion™ 'White' bluebeard is also incredibly drought tolerant, making it a versatile and relatively hardy plant for pollinator gardens, rock gardens, low borders or hedges, and foundation plantings. Thanks to its fragrant silvery-green foliage, this Caryopteris is deer and rabbit tolerant, and its low-growing behavior makes Pavilion™ 'White' a great addition especially along pathways or near patios, where its minty aroma can be enjoyed regularly. Though not native to the US, Caryopteris incana Pavilion™ 'White' presents no risk of becoming invasive over time, and is actually a suitable replacement for more invasive ornamentals like bush clover (Lespedeza thunbergii).
