Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii (Black Eyed Susan) Unity Grown

Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii is a medium-sized variety of black-eyed Susan, which is more disease resistant and slightly narrower than the straight species. Also called Deam's black-eyed Susan, this perennial wildflower grows to about 2-3' tall and produces large, yellow and chocolate brown blooms from late summer into mid-fall; flowers are popular with a variety of pollinators, and when flowers finish, they provide seed to a number of bird species too! Though Rudbeckia fulgida is native to a large portion of the eastern US, the deamii variety is only truly native to the American midwest. 

Deam's black-eyed Susan prefers medium-moist soils in full to partial sun; easy to grow and propagate, Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii makes for a spectacular addition to any landscape when massed in drifts, and densely branching growth means a higher density of flowers, perfect for cut flower arrangements. Additionally, Deam's black-eyed Susan is a great choice for a wide variety of home landscapes due to its deer and rabbit resistance, drought tolerance, and tolerance of poor soils.
