Moonlight Magic is an especially showy cultivar of Lagerstroemia indica, also commonly referred to as crape or crepe myrtle, noted for its dense clusters of pure white flowers in the summer and its attractive, dark purple-black foliage, which contrasts excellently against the cultivar's flowers and hold their color longer than other dark-leaved crape myrtle cultivars before turning to dark red in the fall. Lagerstroemia indica Moonlight Magic can be grown as a tree or multi-trunked shrub to about 8-12' tall and about 4-6' wide, but can also be kept much smaller.

Well-regarded across much of the horticultural world for their attractive summer flowers, ornate, excising bark in a variety of cinnamon brown shades, and easily maintained growth habit and shape over time, crape myrtles are common specimen plants, but also work well in borders/screens or foundation plantings across much of the country. Crape myrtles grow easily in full sun and medium-moist, well-drained soils, making them an ideal choice for a variety of gardens and landscape types. Originally native to Asia, crape myrtles have become naturalized across much of Europe, North America, and the Caribbean, and present very little risk of becoming invasive.

Marylanders Plant Trees

From the Maryland Department of Natural Resources:

"We launched Marylanders Plant Trees in 2009 to encourage citizens and organizations to partner with the State to plant new trees. Today, citizens can still take advantage of our coupon program to receive $25 off the purchase of a native tree at 86 participating nurseries across the State. The State cost of $20 per coupon is funded through a settlement from a major power generator for Clean Air Act violations, in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, and Maryland’s participating tree vendors are generously absorbing the remaining $5.

Trees must be planted in the state of Maryland to qualify for $25 off coupon.
Wholesale customers do not qualify.
