Salvia sylvestris 'Blue Hill' is a European hybrid cultivar of meadow sage, noted for its showy blue-purple flowers, excellent cold-hardiness, and consistently sturdy and compact growth habit. Growing up to two feet tall, 'Blue Hill' is an excellent choice for pollinator and wildflower plantings, meadows, small garden spaces, containers, and anywhere with well-drained soils and lots of sun. Naturally hardy to Zone 4 thanks to its European heritage, 'Blue Hill' tolerates drought, heat and cold, as well as deer and rabbit damage, thanks to its fragrant foliage. Additionally, 'Blue Hill' has better tolerance of heavy clay soils over some cultivars like 'Snow Hill' adding further utility in the home landscape.

From late spring to early summer, 'Blue Hill' produces an excellent, profuse show of true-blue flowers on narrow spikes, which are attractive to a wide range of pollinators; dead-heading in mid summer can result in reblooming in the early fall, adding further multi-season interest to this excellent pick. This cultivar of meadow sage performs best in medium-dry soils, so even though it tolerates clay soils, sandy or gravel soils may be preferred.
