Ilex glabra Squeeze Box® is the first inkberry holly cultivar of its kind, squeezing into all sorts of new plant locations thanks to its upright, pyramidal growth habit. Noted for its slow growth rate and outstanding texture and appearance, Squeeze Box® is the perfect choice to add unique texture to established low-growing evergreens. Covered in small, glossy green leaves, Ilex glabra Squeeze Box® is an excellent native alternative to non-native boxwoods, and does the hard work of shaping itself into a column without any careful pruning. Growing in an upright cone of four to six feet tall with a spread of two to three feet, Squeeze Box® is an excellent addition to break up the uniformity of established low hedges, but works perfectly as a foundation planting, upright privacy screen, or even a container planting.

Squeeze Box® prefers medium to wet, well-drained fertile soils with some acidity, and tolerates full sun to part-shade. In the spring, this cultivar produces small white flowers, and as an all-male cultivar, Squeeze Box® is the perfect match for female inkberry holly cultivars like Gem Box®, Strongbox® and 'Compacta,' allowing for the production of inkberry's namesake fruits which are highly attractive to birds.
