Echinacea x 'Sombrero Baja Burgundy' is a hybrid coneflower cultivar noted for its attractive, eye-catching flowers in bright shades of burgundy red! 'Sombreor Baja Burgundy' is a compact cultivar, growing to only 18-22" tall in small clumps to about 24" wide. This compact but wide-clumping behavior makes it an excellent choice for planting en masse.

Echinacea x 'Sombrero Baja Burgundy' is an excellent and attractive pick for a variety of garden locations and provides a ton of ecological benefits just like many other coneflower cultivars. And while especially showy, its flowers are just as attractive to a wide range of pollinators as other cultivars of echinacea, and its dried seedheads provide seed for fall and winter birds. These coneflowers grow best in full to partial sun, and well-drained medium moist soils soils, but are are additionally tolerant of deer damage, hot and dry locations, and a variety of soil types, making them an excellent pick for a variety of gardens. As a bonus, their tolerance of light shade makes 'Sombrero Baja Burgundy' an especially good pick for open woodland gardens as well.

While 'Sombrero Baja Burgundy' is a hybrid cultivar, all Echinacea species are native to North America.
