Salvia nemorosa 'Rose Marvel' is a European hybrid cultivar of meadow sage, noted for its large, attractive rose pink to magenta flower spikes, excellent cold-hardiness, and consistently sturdy and compact growth habit. Low-growing to only about a foot tall with profuse, shrubby flowering, 'Rose Marvel' is an excellent choice for pollinator and wildflower plantings, meadows, small garden spaces, containers, and anywhere with well-drained soils and lots of sun. Naturally hardy to Zone 4 thanks to its European heritage, 'Rose Marvel' tolerates drought, heat and cold, as well as deer and rabbit damage, thanks to its fragrant foliage.
Typically flowering from mid to late summer, 'Rose Marvel' produces an excellent, profuse show of bright, attractive flowers on narrow spikes, which are attractive to a wide range of pollinators; this cultivar also reblooms effortlessly in the early fall, adding further multi-season interest to this excellent pick. This cultivar of meadow sage performs best in medium-dry soils, so even though it may occasionally tolerate clay soils, sandy or gravel soils are preferred.
