Aquilegia 'Winky Blue & White' (Columbine)

Aquilegia 'Winky Blue & White' is a striking single columbine cultivar that produces upward-facing star-like blooms of white and showy blue-purple with yellow centers. This columbine's blooming period spans 4-6 weeks through the spring to early summer, and is known for its generous flower production, though its short lifespan before it begins to die back in mid summer makes it a fleeting pleasure. Flowers are highly attractive to pollinators and hummingbirds, but are resistant to damage from deer and rabbits.

'Winky Blue & White' columbine makes for great cut flower arrangements, since its showy blooms can last up to two weeks in a vase, and as part of the 'Winky' collection, grows to only 12-24" tall, perfect for small garden spaces and even containers. When let loose in larger flower beds or along forest margins, this columbine will self-seed to form large colonies over time. To encourage additional blooms, prune spent flowers.
