Bred and raised in North Carolina, Baptisia x 'Ivory Towers' is a hybrid false indigo cultivar developed by Tony Avent. Named for its upright growth behavior and beautiful ivory-cream colored flowers, 'Ivory Towers' is a product of two American native species, Baptisia alba and Baptisia albescens, which both have a ton of pollinator appeal.
Foliage emerges in early spring in shades of lime green, contrasing against the plant's purple stems, with tissues maturing to dark green through the summer. Full size specimens can grow to between two and three feet tall and wide, but the 'Ivory Towers' cultivar's flower spikes can add up to two feet to the height of the plant, making for an impressive show when blooms begin in late spring and summer. With pollinator appeal and showy flowers, it's no wonder that 'Ivory Towers' is also a Mt. Cuba Center Top Performer, being awarded 4.8 out of 5 possible points for its long-lasting blooms and its "very graceful looking silhouette."
