Phlox stolonifera, also called creeping phlox, is a low-growing spreading perennial groundcover that produces small clusters of fragrant, lavender colored flowers in mid to late Spring. Growing less than 12" tall, Phlox stolonifera is a great bed flower or naturalized groundcover with a ton of pollinator appeal and an attractive sea of compact, bright green rounded foliage that retains its color year round.

Attractive to a number of pollinators including native bees and butterflies, and performing best in full to part-shade, Phlox stolonifera is the perfect plant to line beds or underplant larger shrubs in shaded pollinators gardens or to naturalize in woodland settings. With its slow spreading nature, this Maryland native requires only an average amount of moisture, grows well in sandy, slightly acidic soils, and is additionally tolerant of deer and rabbit browsing, making it a versatile groundcover selection.
