Bred and raised in North Carolina, Baptisia x 'Ivory Towers' is a hybrid false indigo cultivar developed by noted plantsman and breeder Tony Avent. Named for its upright growth behavior and beautiful ivory-cream colored flowers, 'Ivory Towers' is a product of two American native species, Baptisia alba and Baptisia albescens, which both have a ton of pollinator appeal, creating an attractive and ecologically valuable hybrid.

In the early spring, foliage emerges in shades of lime green, before maturing to dark green through the summer; also in spring, 'Ivory Towers' produces its namesake flower spikes in attractive shades of cream or ivory white. While plants typically average around 2-3' tall and wide, flower spikes can add an additional 18", making for an impressive show when blooms begin in late spring and summer. With pollinator appeal and showy flowers, it's no wonder that 'Ivory Towers' is also a Mt. Cuba Center Top Performer, being awarded 4.8 out of 5 possible points for its long-lasting blooms and its "very graceful looking silhouette." Baptisia x 'Ivory Towers' tolerates drought, poor soils, and acidic conditions, making it suitable for a number of garden locations.
