Rhododendron 'Delaware Valley White' is an exceptionally showy cultivar of evergreen azalea noted for its profuse white flowers in the spring. A consistent, medium-sized, evergreen shrub common for beds, borders, and foundation plantings, 'Delaware Valley White' reaches a relatively compact size of 3-4' tall and slightly wider, though it will take many years before it reaches this mature size as azaleas are very slow growing. Dense blooms of large white flowers begin in the early spring and stick in for a few weeks while other spring flowers are just starting to bloom; flowers are not only showy but sweetly fragrant, and serve to attract bees, butterflies, and other vital, early season pollinators.

Like other members of the Rhododendron genus, 'Delaware Valley White' can be fairly sensitive to soil moisture, pH, and light, and this species grows best in partial sun -- not too bright and not too dark -- and medium-moist, well draining, acidic soils with a good amount of organic nutrients. Rhododendron 'Delaware Valley White' is considered an evergreen, but in harsh winter winds or in extreme summer conditions, its leaves my yellow and drop, so it's important to plant your 'Del Valley' azalea somewhere fairly protected from the harsh elements. Although it may be a bit finicky to get established, Rhododendrons can live for a very long time, and will continue producing profuse, fragrant flowers for years to come if you're willing to put in the extra work!
