Pennisetum orientale 'Karley Rose' is a cultivar of Pennisetum orientale, a warm season fountain grass endemic to Asia. The 'karley Rose' cultivar is noted for its deep green foliage and smoky rose-purple colored bottlebrush-like flowers, as well as longer bloom time and better winter hardiness than its parent species. 'Karley Rose' is upright and clump-forming, growing to 18” tall and wide without flowers.

When in flower, this cultivar of fountain grass produces tall flower spikes that can bring the plants height to 3' tall, and can persist from June well into august before they begin to break down; in the fall, the foliage turns to shades of orange and tan, and these colors persist through the winter, adding interest. 'Karley Rose' performs best in well-drained sandy loam soil in full sun.
