Paeonia lactiflora is a medium height peony, a shrubby perennial grown for its attractive green foliage and large, fragrant, showy flowers. Paeonia typically reach between three and four feet high at full maturity, though some cultivars are slightly shorter, and grow best in well-drained, fertile soils. Peonies are attractive to butterflies and are long-lived, deer- and rabbit-resistant, and easy to maintain throughout their active growth windows, only requiring dead-heading of expired blooms.
'Pink Hawaiian Coral' is a multiple award-winning peony cultivar, bred for its large, fully-double pink flowers of layered ruffled petals. This cultivar's blooms open in May, starting out a deep, full pink and eventually lightening to a coral pink color in mid-summer, and are actually one of the earliest peonies to set flowers, making 'Pink Hawaiian Coral' a great addition to gardens with multiple peony cultivars as well.
