Iris reticulata 'Purple Hill' is a cultivar of Iris reticulata, a dwarf species of iris native to the cold, dry mountains of the Middle East and Eurasia. The 'Purple Hill' cultivar is noted for its deep purple coloration which contrasts well with splashes of gold; this cultivar has all the majesty of the purple mountains, but in a smaller, dwarf-sized package, at only 12-16" tall.

Performing best in light, well draining soils in full sun, 'Purple Hill' is a great choice for anyone looking for perennials to naturalize into an area, and thrives on hillsides and locations that get drier in the summer, autumn, and winter, but is tolerant of slightly moister and slightly shadier areas as well. Lightly fragrant flowers in the mid to late spring make for great additions to floral arrangements, and blooms are popular with butterflies and other pollinators too!
